Paris: Hotel in a Movie Theatre

Paris has a new attraction for the movie-mad among us: A hotel built onto an art-house cinema, with every room set up as a screening room, and two of the suites having windows opening directly into the theatre’s six auditoriums.

Hotel Paradiso, near Place de la Nation, is built onto the back of the MK2 Nation theatre, with 36 rooms set up as mini-theatres and a lobby filled with movie posters and memorabilia and with movie music playing in the background.

The rooms have three-metre-wide screens that either hang on a wall or drop down covering the windows. Guests can choose from a wide variety of online libraries and streaming services or from the hotel’s collection of more than 2000 DVDs.

At the even more special event, there are the two suites that open onto the auditoriums (first show is free, there’s a charge for double feature) and La Loge, an eight-person private box overlooking one of the theatre’s screens. There’s also a cinema-equipped roof garden and La La Land, a private bookable space with 40,000 songs and a karaoke machine.

Prices start at €100. Plus popcorn.
