Victoria airport gets its own gin mill

While craft distilleries and breweries have become common, even trendy, they’re usually not located in airports—but Victoria, BC has an exception, a boutique distillery making specialty gins in the airport.

Victoria Distillers has set up a still, complete with bottling operation and a shop in a recently-expanded departure lounge, selling its signature tea-infused product, named for the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria. The gin’s herbs give it a purple hue that changes depending on the mixers added.

There’s at least one other airport distillery, the Nicholas Culpepper, which operates in a pub at London’s Gatwick airport. And for beer-lovers, there are in-airport breweries at Munich (Airbräu) and Tampa, Florida (Cigar City Brewing).
