Warnemunde, Germany, is a peaceful seaside resort town popular with the locals as a summer getaway spot for families and cruise ship passengers. I am the latter, sailing on Viking Juniper enjoying the “Viking Homeland” itinerary.
The town is located two hours north of Berlin. One of the area’s main attractions is its white sandy beach.
The “Alter Strom” or Old Channel, is lined with a strip of shops, restaurants, and cafes. That’s where I headed the afternoon we docked there. Store after shop selling souvenirs and clothing drew my interest. From the promenade, you can also admire the view of the Baltic Sea.
After shopping along the promenade, I headed for the center of the tourist area, where there are other shops to peruse.
Warnemunde is a lovely seaside resort town and a wonderful place to spend time among German tourists and friendly shopkeepers.
