London Mayor Sadiq Khan is pushing a plan, backed by £6 million in funding from his office for a ‘Superloop’ route that would better connect London’s outer towns to each other as well as to Central London.
Unlike Tokyo’s Yamanote Line or the Line 15 ring Paris is building, London’s plan will link up a series of existing and new express bus routes into a route paralleling the M25 motorway that rings the capital. The Superloop buses will be limited-stop, and will have special priority on some roads.
About a third of the proposal uses existing routes, with a number of others to be added over time. Heathrow Airport is one of the stops in the route; when the loop is complete, it will give passengers from outside the central core a direct route to the airport without first heading into London
