Santa Rosa, California, was the home of Charles Schultz, and it revels in its Peanuts connection. Downtown is filled with statues of Peanuts characters, often in costumes related to the businesses that sponsored them.
A visit to the Desert View Watchtower on the eastern portion of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. Constructed in the 1930s, it offers magnificent canyon views and a tie to the Native American history of the Canyon.

For those interested, there is a delightful Charles Schulz Museum as well as Snoopy’s Home Ice, which has a small museum in the same complex devoted to Schultz’s love of hockey and ice skating.
The interior of Snoopy’s Home Ice almost looks like a ski chalet. I had the opportunity to compete there twice last year, once was given a medal by Snoopy himself!
