Labor Day travel setting records

We’re at the start of the Labor Day weekend today, with TSA saying it expects a record crowd passing through its airport lines this weekend, as many as 17 million passengers between last Thursday and the the coming Wednesday.

Yes, some people do stretch the weekend.

While that’s a lot of people, none of those days is expected to top the one-day records of over 3 million set on June 23 and July 7 this year, marking the 4th of July travel frenzy. But it did predict a volume of 2.86 million for yesterday.

On the ground, meanwhile, AAA says that non-airline travel in the U.S. around the Labor Day holiday is up 9% over last year.
