Wearied by my exploration of the visual delights of Turkish Fethiye’s old market, your intrepid Gumbo-ist needed to seek the solace of a little shade
Encountered on a chance visit a few days ago to the UK heritage ‘Brooklands’ museum, I am delighted to share these photos of this mighty and powerful beast with my fellow Gumbo’ists! The Napier-Railton is an aero-engined race car built in 1933.

And so the tour guide says, “I’m just going to take you to my uncle’s shop…” and your heart sinks, knowing that you are going to lose another hour of your life whilst ‘uncle’ tries to sell you some over-priced merchandise or other.
For no better reason than I rather like this picture, please allow me to show you the island of Portland in Dorset, England, at low tide as the sun sets on a late winter’s afternoon.
I admit that I don’t ‘do’ beach holidays very well. So when I was threatened by “another day by the pool” I decided that it would be great to take the new high speed catamaran service from Fetihye in Turkey to the isle of Rhodes in Greece.
