A Starry Night in Northumberland

Editor’s note:  I’ve personally found it difficult to take quality photographs of a night sky.  Your camera needs to be absolutely motionless.  Exposures need to be properly time.  And if it’s cold, your batteries don’t last long.  It seems Ian Cook doesn’t have the same problems I do, so I was delighted when he shared these photos on our Facebook page and agreed to have them compiled into this interesting collection.  The images are of the night sky, including the aurora borealis, taken near Lindisfarne, Northumberland.  I am fascinated by stars, much like I imagine our ancestors were, and hope you enjoy Ian’s work as much as I do.

Great pictures!  I’ve only seen the Northern lights a few times, and that’s the color they were when I saw them.
