AmaWaterways, master chef team up onboard

AmaWaterways and James Beard award winner Joanne Weir are continuing their partnership, with the cruise line sponsoring Weir’s PBS series ‘Plates and Places with Joanne Weir.’ Two episodes, filmed on board an Ama cruise this fall will air in February.

The cruise included regional specialties from the areas along the route, with Weir giving cooking demonstrations and adding small touches to the tasting menu of the ship’s Chef’s Table restaurant.

The collaboration is continuing beyond the TV sponsorship; Weir will join another cruise this coming July. The 7-night Taste of Bordeaux Culinary Cruise will travel the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers. Weir will present culinary demonstrations on board, and join shore excursions to local culinary and viniculture highlights.

In addition to Weir’s involvement, the 2018 cruise will include complementary shore excursions covering French culture, food and wine, including a wine festival and a wine tasting at the 14th-century chateau of the philosopher Montaigne. Click for more information on the cruise from AmaWaterways
