American follows Delta with free entertainment

It's nice sometimes to see airlines match each other's best features rather than fare and fee hikes! American Airlines announced today that as of now, all its inflight entertainment—games, TV, movies (including new releases)—will now be free.

Delta made a similar announcement in June, giving it a head-start on bragging rights. Perhaps we'll see a United announcement in the near future?

American's move involves about 2/3 of its 1500-plane fleet. That includes 280 planes with seatback screens and another 780 where the entertainment options are available to stream onto personal tablets, phones or laptops.

Now, who'll be the first to offer system-wide free Wi-Fi? Many of us would rather have that!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
