We drove through Amarillo in the Texas panhandle last mid-October and were surprised to get caught in a major blizzard. I really wasn't expecting to have such cold weather in Texas that time of year. About a foot of snow came down and the power in our hotel room went out at about 10:00 p.m. Fortunately we were settled into our room and the place was well-enough insulated that we were pretty comfortable through the night.
The power was still out the following morning but the weather had cleared and we were on our way. We had hoped to visit the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum, but it was closed because of CoVid. It did make a nice photographic setting in the unseasonable October snow.
