Our hikes in Peru's Sacred Valley took us through many small towns and villages. At one of these we rested near this pretty small church.
Wandering into the church's courtyard, we found this H-U-G-E arachnid making a home in the corner wall. Tarantulas are extremely efficient at controlling the population of large insects and rodents, and are an accepted part of the community.
Still, a spider larger than one's hand can send a chill up your spine.
