Behind the Taj Mahal

There have been more photos taken out front of the Taj Mahal than can be counted. But around the back lies a hidden world where local people go about their everyday lives oblivious to the hordes visiting the famous mausoleum.

Venturing away from the beaten track I was enthralled by the sight of this girl carrying a bundle of wood on her head and leading a goat. As I watched, more local people passed by.

It was interesting to capture the complex from other unusual angles.

The Taj Mahal located in the city of Agra is one of the great sights of India. However, some visitors rush on to the next destination after seeing the mausoleum, when there are several other attractions worth seeing in Agra including the Red Fort and Akbar’s Tomb.

It truly is one of the most beautiful buildings in the world, isn’t it?

And I believe I saw that same goat when I was there.
