Betsy Williams Sycamore Tree, Providence, Rhode Island

Not only is the Betsey Williams Sycamore tree the most famous tree in Rhode Island, it is also a beloved icon of Roger Williams Park in Providence, Rhode Island. It is estimated to be about 250 years old, thus one of the largest tree species in the eastern United States.

The tree is easily distinguished by its exfoliating bark that turns white in the upper canopy. My husband and I were able to see this magnificent tree on a recent trip to Rhode Island while visiting the Roger Williams Park. Definitely something we were glad to be able to see while in the area.
