Located in the parking lot of the Big Texan Steak Ranch is a relatively new piece of art. It features a 27-foot-tall cowboy T-Rex dinosaur -- complete with boots, spurs and a kerchief -- comically posed straddling what seem to be large chopsticks.
The Big Texan Steak Ranch is a Route 66 legend, famous for its "free 72 oz steak dinner" (It's free if you finish the entire meal within an hour). The restaurant was originally opened on Route 66 in Amarillo, Texas, but had to move to its current location adjoining the I-40 freeway to stay in business.
Tex-Rex once stood outside Planet Hollywood in Dallas. I think it's found a better home in Amarillo.
