Bighorn Sheep, Hell’s Canyon, Idaho

It’s always fun to see wildlife, especially when it’s a surprise.   Among my favorites are bighorn sheep.

02 Bighorn Sheep, Snake River

While rafting the Snake River through Hells Canyon a year and a half ago, we came across a herd of bighorns who had descended from the mountains to get a drink in the river.  It was a hot summer day and water sources in the summer are limited.

03 Bighorn Sheep, Snake River

It was a mixed group of males and females who were a little shy, but we passed them quickly and quietly and they continued along their way.  Beautiful animals.
