There is a nearby hiking trail that extends into the desert of the San Rafael swell.  Within Black Dragon Wash is a red pictograph panel, accompanied by petroglyphs.  The pictograph is reminiscent of a dragon, hence the name.

Juniper trees contrast with the Navajo Sandstone walls here at eastern edge of the San Rafael Swell.
