Breeze arrives in New York (nearly)

Breeze Airways is making its first footsteps into the New York City market with a first flight to Newark Liberty International Airport, one of the Big Apple's three major fields.

It comes as part of another route and city expansion by the low-cost airline, which is also adding Erie, Pennsylvania, South Bend, Indiana and Wilmington, North Carolina to its network. It's also adding more service at Fort Myers in Florida and Westchester County Airport, up to now its closest spot to NYC.

In all, there are eighteen new routes, mostly focused on leisure travel from smaller cities to warm-weather destinations. The Newark route, which will serve Charleston, West Virginia, may be the harbinger of future additions.

Breeze is one of three new carriers that started service in 2021, along with Aha!, which lasted less than a year and Avelo, which has also continued to spread its reach. Breeze's service to Wilmington, North Carolina will put it in direct competition with Avelo.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
