Brussels: Bourse becomes Beer Museum

One of the most monumental buildings in Brussels, the former Bourse, or Stock Exchange, will soon be put to what many might think is a higher purpose: a museum of Belgian beer.

Over one hundred of Belgium’s brewers, large and small and representing all sorts of brewing traditions, are sponsoring in Belgian Beer World, described as a ‘beer experience center. it will occupy the top floor of the building, while the lower floors will become event spaces.

Sven Gats, Brussels Minister for the Image of Brussels, told news media that “It’s not just about beers, it is also about bringing people together. The beer itself is not the essence. We can say that we are the land of beer, and if you want the link between tradition and diversity, you’ll have to come to Belgium.”
