The weak ruble has made budget travel easier in Russia. Not only are there budget flight to Moscow and St Petersburg from the US, other transportation and living costs have gotten cheap thanks to the favorable currency exchange. Examples include, hostel beds in St. Petersburg that start at $6, balcony tickets to the ballet at the famous Mariinsky Theatre are around $10 and a high speed train tickets from St Petersburg to Moscow are roughly $55.
