Washington's famed cherry blossoms are due to peak March 17-20, according to the National Park Service, and those are the dates for planned Cherry Blossom Festival events.
It's a bit early this year, by a couple of weeks. The dates depend on weather, and can only be predicted a couple of weeks in advance. The peak is defined as when 70% of the blossoms are open.
Peak viewing areas are around the Tidal Basin and the Washington Monument. In addition to just taking in the sights, there's a parade, thousands of visitors, and special packages at hotels and restaurants.
