China, Australia end lingering Covid rules

Worldwide, Covid travel restrictions have passed pretty much into rear-view mirror territory, but some have continued, and are only now being lifted.

China, home of some of the earliest travel restrictions after the initial outbreak in 2020, will drop the requirement for incoming travelers to show current Covid test results. The rule will end this Wednesday, September 6. Prior rules, based on a Zero-Covid policy, were lifted in December. Those rules included quarantine for many travelers.

Australia is also dropping restrictions, lifting the last Covid rules for cruise ships, effective immediately. Mask wearing, testing and proof of vaccination are no longer required for passengers or crew. Australia’s rules, implemented when cruising resumed in April 2022, were among the last cruise-specific rules in the world.
