China has announced a new bi-annual air show, with the first event to be held in Deyang, in Sichuan Province, in 2017. China is the fastest-growing market for airliners, and is also an important manufacturing center for aviation equipment and parts.
Until now, all aviation eyes have been focused on alternating annual air shows in Paris, and Farnborough, in the UK. This year’s Paris Air Show has just wrapped up three days of manufacturers showing off their wares and drumming up new orders for planes, engines, seats, and other systems.
The Chinese show, located in an important manufacturing area in western China, is intended to provide an opportunity for Chinese aviation supply companies to increase their presence in the market. The show will include three days of trade events and two days of public events and displays.
The planned show will be jointly produced by the Sichuan government and Farnborough International Ltd, operator of the Farnborough show. There was no discussion of whether the Sichuan show will share a year with one of the existing shows, or whether each will be held once every three years.
