For a museum that's dedicated to the signs that tell us where to go, the American Sign Museum in Cincinnati may be a little shy on its own publicity, since an expansion that doubled its size two months ago has only recently been noticed by national media.
Located in a former factory building in a (not surprisingly) industrial neighborhood, the museum saw 60,000 visitors last year to its exhibits which cover 100 years of American sign history. With the expansion that now uses the entire building, it's likely to draw more.
Its director, Chad Dupee, told USA Today that “We’re the largest public sign museum in the country. Our mission is to celebrate America’s sign history through education and preservation.”
The museum's main exhibits stretch along 'Main Street,' running the length of the building and including a recently-installed movie theater marquee from New Hampshire that leads into the museum's new 300-seat presentation space.
