Hong Sieng Kong in Bangkok must be one of the most eclectically-decorated coffee shops anywhere; certainly no Starbucks could ever dream of competing with it. You may already be a little familiar with it, since it was part of PortMoresby’s visit to A Quiet Corner of Bangkok’s Chinatown.
Here’s a bit more of a very pleasant place to spend an hour on the way to wherever one might be going!
It has all the usual things a coffee house needs—the machines, the snacks, and the wide selection of coffees and teas—as well as an entire house facade, with another house attached to its courtyard.
Enough antique and near-antique furniture is scattered around to almost resemble a showroom. Along with other decor, the effect is casual and kind of indoor-outdoorsy.
Stepping through the open door in one wall, you find yourself in another courtyard with the kitchen and an abundance of plants and decorations…
And, if that’s all been a bit too much, there are also sunny and shaded tables from which to watch the river… or just gaze into your phone.
