Copenhagen, known as the world's best city for cyclists is nonetheless on the list of cities whose pollution levels exceed European standards. Last October, the city decided to join Stockholm and Paris in trying car-free days as an anti-pollution strategy; the city has now picked September 18th, a Sunday,
City officials say they want to use the day to collect data on what pollution would be like without the traffic. They also promise that the car-free day will be full of special events designed to get people into the city center to experience the possibilities of life in a car-free city.
