Could buses be America's sleeper trains?

The growing revival of overnight sleeper trains in Europe, especially as an alternative to flying may have found its American answer with the idea of luxury sleeper buses in a country with limited rail connections.

One company, Napaway, is already operating an overnight sleeper service on custom-built buses between Washington, DC and Nashville, Tennessee. The $125 ride includes one of the buses' 18 sleeper suites, with seats that fold into a true flat-bed similar to those in business class flights.

The 600-mile route is long enough for a night's sleep: It leaves Washington at 10 pm and arrives in Nashville at 8 am. Baggage is included, up to two pieces. While there are no built-in screens, the bus has powerful enough Wi-Fi for individual movie streaming. Not permitted on board: dogs, children under 8 and loud musical devices.

If the service is successful, there are hundreds of potential routes to be tapped.
