Cruisers told: Leave your water home!

Norwegian Cruise Line has joined Carnival in banning passengers from bringing their own bottled water onboard, supposedly to speed up boarding. The ban also includes soda, juices, liquor and beer.

Wine is allowed—but the cruise line wants a corkage fee for each bottle. There was no word on whether that would be refunded for any bottles not opened.

Passengers will also not be allowed to bring any non-alcoholic beverages back onto the ship at ports of call; alcoholic beverages bought at ports of call will be stored by the ship and only returned when the cruise is over.

While it may, in fact, speed up boarding, it will also certainly increase business at the ship’s bars and shops.
