Dec. 15, 2015: Cascadilla Gorge, Ithaca NY

Ithaca, New York is famed for its colleges and universities, and for the gorges and waterfalls just adjacent to its center, as streams make their way to Lake Cayuga.

Here, a lone fisherman takes advantage of a bright weekday morning to try his luck at the base of the falls in Cascadilla Gorge. Despite the look of wilderness, the falls are only a block or two from a school and houses; just behind me as I took the picture, a local street crosses the gorge on a bridge. Below, just another spectacular bit of Nature’s fall colors.
