Eiffel’s yacht sails again on Lake Geneva

Once Gustave Eiffel’s yacht when he had a summer home in Vevey, a Swiss town on Lake Geneva, Switzerland’s oldest motor boat is back in service after a year’s renovations.

The boat is now owned by a Geneva private banker, only the fifth owner, who bought it in 2014 and sent it to drydock to repair and polish its wood paneling, brass fittings and topside covers.

The boatyard that did the work owns and operates a fleet of Belle Epoque passenger boats on the lake, so they were familiar with the work. The 19-meter boat was originally built in Liverpool, then immediately disassembled and shipped to Geneva for re-assembly.
