During the 1830’s, Elmwood Park was part of a 200-acre estate in Roanoke, Virginia, which was called the town of Big Lick until 1882. After many sections of the property were sold off, the final few acres were sold to the City of Roanoke and were made into a park.
Part of that park is reserved for the Art Walk sculptures. The site hosts many annual festivals and cultural events. The walk takes about 30 minutes depending on how long you view each of the many sculptures and there is plenty of parking around the area, usually with a 2-hour limit.

Roanoke is in southwest Virginia and is known as "The Star City of the South". It is approximately 250 miles from Washington DC and situated along the Roanoke River in the Blue Ridge range of the Appalachian Mountains.
