Sailing with Norwegian Cruise Line aboard Norwegian Jewel in Southeast Asia is a delight, onboard and off. There is so much to see and do, including experiencing the beauty of a beach near Puerto Princesa, The Philippines.
Our excursion began with welcoming locals, dancing to customary music, and presenting every passenger with a beautiful necklace.
A short van ride brought us to Honda Bay boat wharf and we boarded a banana boat to head for Cowrie Island. The island got its name from a marine mollusk with a smooth, polished, patterned shell with a long and narrow opening.
Our excursion included a cabana where our group kept our possessions and had a place to get some shade after spending time on the beach and in the water. Large palm trees dotted the white sandy beach.
Soon after we arrived, a woman approached our group and said she and other masseuses offered hour-long massages for $10. It was amazing. I only wished I had brought more money for a larger tip. My masseuse was excellent.
We all swam, snorkeled, and took in the beauty of the clear turquoise waters. A bar in the middle of the island also served fresh watermelon smoothies, beer, and soft drinks.
Even though we were at the beach for several hours, all too soon, it was time to take the boat back to the boat pier.
