Eurostar expands routes for winter skiing

If cruisers are dreaming of Caribbean warmth for the coming winter (see item above), skiiers are already thinking of freshly-packed powder and warm drinks after...so now, in the heat of summer, we are seeing the winter services being announced.

Eurostar, the train operator most often thought of as simply the train that connects London to Paris and Brussels, has extended its routes in France in the past year to include direct service to Marseille and Lyon, and is not talking serious ski opportunities.

The Lyon route, 4.5 hours from London, puts skiiers within easy reach of many French Alps resorts, including Les Deux Alps and Alpe d'Huez. There is also a direct route to other areas in the French Alps, including Moutier and Bourg-Saint-Maurice, which give access to a number of other resorts.

And, for those with Switzerland on their minds, Eurostar is selling through tickets to Geneva, with a connection in Lille.

Tickets are already on sale for all of the winter routes, with service starting Dec. 19. For more ticket info, click HERE for Eurostar's website.

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
