If you're traveling to France this year and plan on driving, leave your headphones, earpieces, Bluetooth headsets and the like behind, or in your bag. As of July 1st they're banned on the road in France, whether you're driving a car or riding a bike.
The rules, first proposed in January, are aimed at keeping drivers' minds on the road; 10% of all road deaths in France are being blamed on mobile phones. Speakerphones will still be legal.
The Interior Ministry explains the rules: "The aim is to stop drivers from getting isolated from their exterior environments, and from losing their concentration." Violators can be fined up to 135€, or about $150. MORE details from TheLocal.fr
