We would have missed this if it hadn’t been for our pedicab guide/driver, who took us to see and meet.

DSC07033Tucked in a corner of the waterfront, only steps away from the newly-renovated Malecon, although invisible from it, this fishermen’s cooperative seems like a remnant of an earlier, simpler time.DSC07036

Many of the boats, and the dock area, suffered heavy damage during Hurricane Sandy in 2012; nearly 2000 boats in the Santiago area had to be repaired or rebuilt.
