Delphi, Greece

Delphi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, marked the very center of the world for the ancient Greeks; a sacred space where human beings could communicate directly with the gods.

Occupation of the site at Delphi can be traced back from the Neolithic period to the beginning in the Mycenaean period (1600–1100 BC). Most of the ruins that survive today date from the most intense period of activity at the site in the 6th century BC. The site is beautifully preserved on a pristine mountainside. Make sure and visit the museum for a better understanding of the site.
