Standin’ on the Corner in Winslow, Arizona

It’s sort of a cliche picture, based on the Eagles’ song “Take it Easy,” but it’s fun.

It’s got the corner in Winslow, Arizona, it has the “girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me” and other icons of the song and the glamor of Route 66.

And it’s got me, clowning around with a statue that might be one or other of the song’s authors, Glenn Frey and Jackson Browne. We were passing by in 2007, on the way to Monument Valley.

The park’s been there since 1999, with the trompe l’oeil window mural by John Pugh and the statue by Ron Adamson.
