Fiji, American link loyalty programs

Fiji Airways, which will become a OneWorld alliance member next year, has taken another step closer to its OneWorld partner American Airlines by joining AA's AAdvantage loyalty program.

At some point over the next year, Fiji's Tabua Club program will transfer its members and status into AAdvantage, and customers on both airlines will be able to 'earn and burn' AAdvantage points on all flights. Up to now, under previous agreements, only certain Fiji flights could earn AA points.

Fiji is the newest member of OneWorld, which includes British Airways, Iberia, Qatar, Finnair, Alaska, Qantas and more. Sharing loyalty point programs has become more common recently: The Avios reward currency, originally created by British Airways, is now used by its brandmates Iberia, Vueling and Aer Lingus as well as by Qatar and Finnair.

Fiji was recently in the news when it was named as Best Airline in Australia and Pacific Region by Skytrax

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
