The PreCheck program operated by the U.S. Transportation Safety Administration has just signed up four more airlines, making it possible for their customers to move through security faster and with less hassle at U.S. airports.
The four are Saudia, a SkyTeam member; Air New Zealand and Ethiopian, both Star Alliance airlines and Aer Lingus, which belongs to no alliance but has codeshares with a number of airlines in all three.
For Aer Lingus customers, joining is a two-way benefit, since its flights to the U.S. from its bases in Dublin and Shannon are pre-clearance stations, where passengers pass through security, including TSA, before boarding planes to the U.S., where no further processing is needed.
PreCheck members, who pay a fee for the service or receive it as part of Global Entry membership, go through a dedicated lane which usually has fewer people waiting, do not have to remove liquids from bags or remove shoes; at many airports they also do not have to remove laptops.
