France's TGVs and even some of its regional trains are getting even faster schedules on some routes, as well as some added service starting about a year from now. Some of the speed-ups are almost breathtaking, cutting 20 to 40% off current running times.
SNCF, the national train operator is preparing for the uptick by putting 40 new trainsets into service and renovating another 24 as part of a €1 billion upgrade plan. The new and refurbished cars will have upgraded seating and WiFi on all trains.
Among the route upgrades, Paris-to-Bordeaux will see some of the biggest change, with the time changing from 3:14 to 2:04, and the service upgraded to hourly trains each way from early morning to late evening, with half-hour intervals at the busier times. Altogether, 27 cities will be affected. For more details from TheLocal.fr, click HERE.
