Fun at a Lumberjack Show—Rain or Shine!

The rain came, and the fun followed in Ketchikan, Alaska, at the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show.

A captivating host divided the crowd in half, creating a unique cultural experience. On one side of the bleachers, we had Canada, and on the other, the United States. Four skilled lumberjack athletes compete in 12 events, showcasing the rich heritage of both nations.

The games began after introductions were made of two men from a Canadian camp and two from an American camp.

For a thrilling 45 minutes, the men wielded seven-pound axes, six-foot razor-sharp saws, tree-climbing gaffs, and souped-up chainsaws, putting on a heart-pounding show for the crowd.

Each team won a competition in turn. The men sawed, hacked, climbed, and rolled logs in a small pool.

This was my second time attending the show. This time, as part of a Holland America Koningsdam shore excursion.

It is easy to recommend this attraction.
