June 26, 2019: German Fest Lakewood, Colorado

Last July we spent a very fun afternoon at German Fest Denver 2018. It was help at the Lakewood Heritage Center and was a great way to connect with my German roots. Plus we had just got back from Germany and had a lot of stories to share. The highlight was meeting some people near Bavaria (where we stayed for a week). If was wonderful to talk over a few drinks and sing Ein Prosit.

GF - FriendsSpeaking of music, there is an amphitheater where they were playing live music the whole time we were there. It was nice and added to the atmosphere. There was also a dance floor where a lot of the kids were dancing. It was so cute, and we enjoyed watching them.  Besides German music they also played Polka, Waltz, Tango, Cha-Cha, Fox, Rock, Country, Western, and more. Kids can participate in the popular Duck Dance.

GF - MusicThe best part of the fest was all the German food and beer. There is also a German Style beer garden with benches and tables, just like in Munich. Surrounding the beer garden tables are a variety of vendors with fun European crafts and food. Artisans will be painting faces, creating arts & crafts, and making some huge soap bubble – plenty of fun things for the entire family.

GF - FoodThis year’s event dates have not been set yet (I will come back and update once dates are announced), but below is location information. Hope you get to go and enjoy if you are in the Denver area. Prost!
