Germany may be no-fly zone Wednesday

Strikes by ground-staff unions may delay and cancel thousands of flights Wednesday. The workers involved are in air safety control, ground services, check-in counters and mechanical trades.

The shutdown, which would center on Frankfurt and also affect Munich, Dusseldorf, Cologne/Bonn, Dortmund and Hanover airports, is part of a struggle between the public-sector unions and local and federal governments that own the airports. The union, Verdi, has recently held strikes at other public institutions including hospitals, city governments and childcare centers.

So, if Wednesday in the air in Germany is in your plans...your plans may be in the air. Check with your airline!

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
