Great Lakes cruise line returns to service

Victory Cruise Lines, once a part of American Queen Voyages, is setting sail under new ownership with two ships bought from the bankrupt AQV. Cruises will start next April, with tickets on sale now.

The two ships, Victory I and Victory II have room for 190 passengers each. The first trip out will be from Portland, Maine to Toronto, Ontario, passing through the Saint Lawrence River on a 10-night cruise. The inaugural season will include voyages spanning all five of the Great Lakes.

American Queen Voyages' other fleet, four paddle-wheel river boats, were acquired by American Cruise Lines. The two Victory ships were bought by John Waggoner for his new company. Waggoner was a founder of American Queen, but was no longer involved when it went bankrupt under new owners.
