Gumbo’s Pic of the Day, August 30, 2014 : Rocky Mountains, Colorado

Colorado

Today’s highlighted photos were taken at the Clinton Gulch Dam Reservoir in Colorado’s Summit Country.  It was a nice summer day and it’s was hard to believe we’re at 11076 ft (3375 m) above sea level.   The treeline and subalpine regions are quite high here.

The reservoir is close to Leadville, the highest altitude populated town in America and a well preserved historic mining town.  There’s a lot of hiking about and the reservoir itself is a popular fishing spot.  But the views of the mountains are especially memorable.
