Iberia FAs: 'We're not Stewardess Barbie'

Iberia flight attendants say their bosses are acting like heels when it comes to their updated uniform shoe policy, and they're asking to have compulsory high heels written out of the manual.

Iberia recently updated its uniforms and policies, the first time in 15 years, and the flight attendants say they had been led to expect they'd be able to wear flat shoes with their new uniforms, but then found that the flats were only for war onboard, and they would be expected to wear heels while on duty in airports or at the gate.

A Change.org petition has been circulating, calling for the heels to be dropped. The petition, started by flight attendant Maria Fernandez, is titled “I’m not stewardess Barbie! Iberia: DO NOT force us to wear heels. Let us choose!” So far, the petition has gathered 56,000 signatures. Fernandez hopes the support from employees and public will induce the airline to drop the rule before the new uniforms and policy go into effect June 1

The best part of every trip is realizing that it has upset your expectations
