Icelandair to offer live theatre in-flight

Talk about new directions in in-flight entertainment! Icelandair crew are rehearsing for their September 8 debut in a musical designed to celebrate Icelandic culture and the airline's 80th anniversary.

The show is booked for one performance so far, but its run may be extended if it works well. Act I will take place in the aisles on a London-Keflavik flight; Act II will take place in the airport at Keflavik, and the final act on the Keflavik-New York leg of the trip.

The scheme is also hooked to publicity for the airline's 'Stopover Pass,' a program that allows travelers transiting Iceland on trips between Europe and North America to stay over for several days at no charge. Passengers selecting the option will not only get the show, but be entered in a lottery for performances in Iceland, ranging from private entertainment to backstage passes to a music festival.
