Icelandic discounter WOW adding Israel flights

WOW, an Iceland-based low-cost carrier is entering the U.S.-to-Israel market with fares as low as $149 one-way from the East Coast and $199 from the West. Up to now, the market has been dominated by much-higher-price traditional carriers.

As with all of WOW’s other flights from the U.S, there’s a layover in Iceland, that can be as short as a couple of hours, or more. Or, if you feel like staying longer, WOW permits unlimited stopover time. In Israel, WOW will be based in Tel Aviv, the country’s major international entry point.

WOW sees the route as a new moneymaker, and the Israeli tourism authorities evidently agree. Yariv Levin, tourism minister, said “I’m confident the launching of this new historic route will significantly increase the number of tourists traveling to Israel from Iceland, Canada and the US…”
