Irish hotel invaded by dinosaurs

Well, not quite. The dinosaurs are actually guests at the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny, and the hotel’s general manager told The Irish Independent that “So far everything is going really well since they arrived on site – no raptors have escaped into the kitchen and the T-Rex hasn’t swallowed any of our staff.”

The hotel has embraced the Jurassic theme with an interative experience featuring life-sized (which in some cases means huge) robotic dinosaurs that move and roar. The ‘prehistoric habitat’ covers part of the hotel’s 25-acre grounds. It’s free to hotel guests, and €11 apiece for others.

Extensive landscaping is intended to create ‘an authentic prehistoric feel,’ whatever that may be. The Jurassic area adjoins existing animals on the hotel’s farm, including llamas, alpacas, emus, highland cattle,
