While wandering down the Rambles, near the Betlem church, my wife and I made a small detour to catch lunch at a cafe we'd read about in a guidebook.
Cafe Granja Viader specializes in pastries and dairy products (especially chocolate milk) and has been open since 1870. We arrived in the early afternoon and the cafe was not at all busy -- probably getting close to siesta time. As we were getting pretty hungry, we decided to get some sandwiches, my wife a grilled cheese and I the Iberian ham. The sandwiches were excellent and the coffee gave us the extra lift we needed.
We had time to stroll around the cafe and enjoyed the nostalgic posters and Viader family photos. After a short and pleasant rest, we continued down the Rambles to see Christopher Columbus by the sea!
